Forensic Handwriting Mystery
review 1: Not realizing this was third in a series, I picked this book up during a whirlwind trip to the library. Fifteen minutes to come up with a handful of readable books isn't much...especially when I normally spend upwards of two hours browsing!I chose this book because I've been interested in graphology for awhile now. I've always been interested in details. My grandfather was an engineer and every time I see handwriting that resembles his, it invariably belongs to either an engineer or someone who wishes they had gone to engineering school. It interests me to see just how handwriting and personality traits go together. I know a lot of people liken it to astrology or fortune-telling...but it just seems to be more accurate to me.Anyway, I've only read a few chapters. I'll let y... more'all know how I like the book once I finish it.Have we become so crass as a society that most authors feel the need to pepper their manuscripts with profanity in order to make it seem "realistic?" I'm disappointed. The story seemed like a string of red herrings...and the author just picked one of them to be the perp. I finished the book just because I hate not finishing books. I won't be reading any more of these books. The subject matter was very intriguing but the execution of the story just wasn't my cup of tea. Others may very well like it, but I found it to be too dark, grisly, profane, and somewhat boring.
review 2: It was just dead wrong. There had been so much progress in characterization in "Written in Blood". The characters who were supposed to be likable almost were. But this story, in terms of the writing, seems like it was actually written before "Written in Blood".The story is about a dating service whose clients aren't doing well when it comes to staying alive. Claudia Rose goes to New York City where the service is based, (headed by a quite unique character, I'll give Ms. Lowe that, she doesn't come up with cardboard characters). And again, (oh me oh my), Claudia Rose gets involved in another mystery.Again, there's just a little too much handwriting info and at times it seems more like a text book than a fictional novel. If you're in dire need of something to read or just love handwriting analysis/graphology then I recommend the book, but other than that I'd say give it a pass. less
