review 1: We Have Always Lived in the Castle is a quick read (I had to choose the anthology because Goodreads doesn't list it as separate book). It is the story of two sisters who live a life of chosen seclusion with their invalid uncle following a family tragedy that changed them and the village which surrounds them forever. You can guess at some of the plot twists; you'll be right on some and dead wrong on others. It is engrossing and terribly sad at points. It is an extremely good read and a book which I will likely read again.
review 2: This is a great collection of short stories as well as two short novels. Some stories were better than others but all were worth reading and I really enjoyed The Haunting of Hill House. Hill House is filled with great suspense a... morend some horror but nothing gross. We Have Always Lived in the Castle is the story of Merricat and Constance who have been shunned by their village when several family members are killed. They live a pleasant life until a cousin comes to visit and upsets the balance of their lives. less
