review 1: The story of an Indian woman, Vinita, who has child out of wedlock. She has plans to keep him, but is told that he died at birth. She goes on to a new life in the United States where she has a career, a strong marriage and a daughter. Years later, Vinita gets a strange letter saying the son actually survived and now has cancer. She runs off to India hoping to be a bone marrow match and confronts the characters of her past. The book is a fast read. The small plot twist is not too surprising and the end is predictable in many respects, but I still enjoyed it.
review 2: This is an easy read and is something of a page-turner if you're in the right frame of mind. (That is, too tired or sick to read a book that makes you think, but want something more than sudo
... moreku). I enjoyed it, especially the fact that it was set in a place with which I was somewhat unfamiliar - Belgaum (Palgaum), India. It's about a woman who, 30 years after giving birth to a still-born, illegitimate child, finds out that her child was/is actually alive. If you're thinking that this is a plot that is just right for really irritating, terrible writing, that's what I was thinking too but the author writes decently. It's not high literature but it's entirely readable. less

Bantwell's novels are a delight, well written, not overly silly romances.
