review 1: I had seen this book in a shop and Bath, England, and put it on my list of books to get and read. I learned a lot about the Holy Roman Empire, the Crown Jewels, and Lt. Horn, who worked his way through the pile of ex-Nazis and the intelligence community, and solved the mystery of these missing items. It was interesting to me that the movie "The Monuments Men" came out shortly before I started to read this book, but after I had added it to my Kindle.
review 2: "Hitler's Holy Relics" was an interesting read (at least for a nerd like me). I liked the story of all this religious and symbolic art that the Nazi's stole and hid. ... morely going to use them to further Hitler's Third Reich. I especially liked the section on the Spear of Destiny, an artifact I'd already had some interest in.The only main downside was the story wasn't quite as dynamic as I'd hoped. It's a true story, so crazy chases and such would be an unrealistic expectation, but the mystery of where exactly the Crown Jewels had disappeared to proved relatively easily solvable. Just a wee bit disappointed in this regard, but that does not detract too much from the overall quality of the book. less
