review 1: I'm not sure what the fuss is about this book and why it got so many 4 and 5 star ratings. I'll admit I'm not much into spy stories, but I do like historical fiction, and this one just did not catch my interest. It seemed like nothing happened for 3/4 of the book, and then when it seemed a bit intersting, it just ended quickly. I read this for book club; otherwise I would never have finished it--too many better books out there (with apologies to the person who suggested it).

... moremes as part of her secret life, goes about her work for the secret intelligence agency that drops her in France to complete her mission. Otherwise, the premise is intriguing and as I listened to it, I felt sorry for her being used by everyone as an end to a means. Maybe life for female spies was like this book depicts it, but I have my doubts. less

This was a pretty good WWII spy novel, not fantastic but a good light read.
