review 1: I was drawn to this book initially because of the Tolkien name, being a massive JRR Tolkien fan. This book, while far removed from Middle Earth had a number of other things going for it . Set in the Second World War during the battle of Britain This a good murder mystery/ spy story with some interesting characters, most notably as far as history is concerned Winston Churchill. This was a good read, that recreated the atmosphere of London during the Blitz, and the plot kept me reading right to the end. The author, though needs to more careful with his use of American vernacular in an English setting.
review 2: Tolkien does a great job of staying a half step ahead of the reader while unveiling the twists of the book. The different layers of the book are wel
... morel written and give good character development. As someone who reads a lot of book on WWII, this book provided a different perspective than what I usually find and it was a refreshing change. I am excited to read the other books that Tolkien has written now. less
