review 1: I read this book "Wild Cards" and it is a very interesting book in my opinion. There are around 8 characters but the book is focused on two main characters, Derek and Ashtyn. This is a very cute book and it is good for just reading during school, or just a rainy day at home. Simone did a great job writing this book, the story line is great and just flows together. It doesn't feel like there are parts missing. My favorite part of this book would have to be the connection between the two characters and how most teenagers might be able to relate. This book wasn't that good when I first started reading it. I kinda glimpsed through the first chapter or two and once i started getting familiar with the characters i got more hooked. After i read the first 5 chapters I would stay u... morep until my mom was yelling at me to go to bed because it was so late. I didn't want the book to end and i didn't want to put it down. I recommend this book to teenagers who have a parent that is in the military. I also recommend this book for any young adults that like romance books or sports including football. You can connect to the characters like your one of them. Derek is a boy who is struggling with life because he lost his mom and his dad is deployed. While Ashtyn who is a girl with her life all figured out. She wants to go to college for football. Right off the bat of meeting each other they hate each other. After awhile there is a crush that develops that neither of them want to admit so things get complicating. I'd give this book a rating of a 10/10.
review 2: This was bad in so many ways I have trouble picking where to start with my review. Actually, when I think about it, "Wild cards" didn't have all that many problems but only because there wasn't all that much happening to begin with. The overall story was unbelievable and borderline boring. I kept reading hoping there would be something redeemable about it but I guess I was out of luck with this one.Ashtyn and Derek's characters were kind of interesting at times, but they didn't manage to make the book itself interesting at all. The problems those two were having in their families and personalities had potential but weren't developed enough to make "Wild cards" a meaningful read. It wasn't even a fun one or a sweet one for that matter. Nothing really good was happening and what was happening had a pace so slow it could put me to sleep. The side characters and story lines were just mentioned and not a single one was developed. Even the book's ending didn't sound well-rounded at all.Overall, I would not recommend "Wild cards" to anyone that is looking for more than a simple read. I don't thing that even if the next book is brilliant the series could survive for a long time. less
