review 1: This book has so many 5-star ratings that I thought it must be at least a safe choice for a light read. However, after reading it, I actually felt angry. I am usually very reluctant to give a low rating to books, especially by self-publishing authors, but this book is an exception. This book reads as if it were intended for a tween audience. It has grammatical errors throughout and incorrect language usage. The author is over-descriptive in just how dreamy, noble, majestic, and on and on and on, the lead male character is. There is very little character building that is of any meaning. Neither of the main characters were likable because they did not feel "real", with seemingly every sentence overloaded with adjectives that describes how perfect the hero is. This series is ... moreintended to be a 5 book series, I recommend saving yourself the time and frustration.
review 2: This book was really bad. I couldn't even finish it it was that bad. I pushed as far as I could but the stilted language and extra descriptive wording was boring and irritating to read. (Jack sure does have some entertaining and relaxing humor!) The story wasn't good enough to distract me from the language so I finally called it a day. You can even tell where the author left off from writing and then came back later and picked up again. The editing is good and it's well formatted which is so rare in books I pick up for free but in the end it's a dud. less
