review 1: I originally found this book on a giveaway from goodreads, amd though I didn't win it, I did go back at a later time and purchase the ebook on my nook. I have to say that this book was hard to read, and by that, I mean that it did not keep my interest enough to want to finish it in a day. I felt like the timing was off in this story. I didn't even realize there was a threat until I was almost done with this book. And the whole situation with Erica just kind of drops off into nothing. It was like the only reason that her character existed in this story was to come between Graham and Grace, but since they came back together not long afterwards anyway, I felt like that entire plot line could have been removed from the book amd it would still have made perfect sense. Also, th... moreere were several errors that were missed in editing. Some were as minor as gramatical errors, like a missing word or inappropriate punctuation. However, some errors were large enough to make me wonder if I had missed entire paragraphs and would have to re-read something. For example, there is a line of dialog shortly after Grace meets Robert's mother and sister, where a paragraph is being spoken by Lark, but in the next paragraph, Amelia acknowledges that is she who has caused a riff between Robert and Grace. I never did figure out if I had just skimmed over something and missed where the story switched who was talking. Finally, the title insinuates that this book is part of a series, however I was perfectly happy with the way the book ended, and do not feel compelled to see what, if anything, happens next.
review 2: I enjoyed the story overall but I found it to be a bit drawn out. Sometimes I just wished they would get to the point quicker - too much deliberating, too much explanation about everything and I was just thinking "get on with it already". It also annoyed me when they kept saying Grace was different. Why is she different? She sounded like every other 17 year old girl, even if she was going through a tough time, there are many 17 year olds that go through a lot worse. On a positive side, I did enjoy seeing Grace grow a backbone and some confidence. And I loved Lark's no nonsense character. I've probably focused too much on the downsides of the book here but at 66p it was worth the money, and I enjoyed the baseline of the story enough to read til the end. less

This series was hard to get through. I finished them all, but nothing to rave about.
