review 1: Totaled is the story of Bree, daughter of a gym owner and Drew, amateur MMA fighter. It is a full length novel, however readers should be forewarned that it ends on a cliffhanger! Both Bree and Drew have heavy roots in an Irish background, and draw from their childhood experiences in order to form a tight bond.Author Stacy Grice puts a high level of detail in her writing, not leaving much up to the readers imagination. She allows the relationship between Drew and Bree to build slowly, leading to lots of sexual tension between our hero and heroine. These two progress naturally instead of falling in to bed together instantly. Drew also finds quality family in Bree's father and brother, as well a the lovable Mick. The family dynamics and relationships are an integral pa... morert of the story, and are used wonderfully to show character development. The only person I had a hard time liking or connecting with was Bree's best friend Sue. I didn't find her to be all that supportive of Bree, and she tended to be a bit snarky and superficial for my taste.Totaled is an easy read for sports romance fans. There is lots of detail about the MMA world, with interesting fight scenes and background info. Stacey Grice obviously did lots of research with this book to make sure things were portrayed acurately. I am generally not a fan of cliffhanger endings, and this one is a doozy. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long to find out where things stand between Drew and Bree!
review 2: Drew is running away. Running away from a past he's rather forget so he can move on. Lucky for him, the stars shined upon him and brought him to Pat's gym in Fernandina Beach. Drew finally feels like he's home. Drew's dream is to be a MMA fighter and he's willing to do anything to succeed. He is very focused on his goal.Bree's committed to her family. She took on the responsibility of caring for her father and learning disabled brother as well as working for the family's gym. But doing all that, she's not been able to be a young adult. She's pretty much given up her life for them.Drew needs someone to care for him, show him he is worthy of love. Bree needs to be needed and loves with her whole heart. They are perfect for each other. From their very first introduction, and what an introduction it is, Drew is impressed. If it was anyone else, they would have run for the hills. I loved "watching" their relationship develop and grow. They support each other through some difficult times and everything is perfect. I expected a ring at any time. But then the ending... what a shocking cliffhanger, just when everything seemed to be perfect. I can't wait for the next one to come out. My heart just broke for both Bree and Drew. I want to say so much more, but I don't want to give it away. I definitely didn't see this turn coming. All I can say is Wow! less
