review 1: There are a lot of good books featuring characters with autism, and more specifically, high-functioning autism (Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Marcelo in the Real World, Mockingbird are a few that come to mind right off the bat), but what this verse novel does really well is show the perspective of a girl whose brother has nonverbal autism and has become dangerous when he gets out of control now that he's a teenager and strong. It's a tricky thing to avoid stigmatization and stereotyping when a disorder is portrayed in a more negative light, but I think this book captured that edge of loving a sibling/being overwhelmed by a sibling with disabilities beautifully.

To be completely honest, most books bore me, but this one only made me want to read it more and more as I turned every page. The author Stasia Ward Kehoe represents her talent as an author beautifully in this book; uses lots of metaphors that you would normally never hear. She also takes Daisy's life and makes it out of the ordinary; makes her deal with things a normal teenager wouldn't. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends. less
