review 1: There are a lot of good books featuring characters with autism, and more specifically, high-functioning autism (Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Marcelo in the Real World, Mockingbird are a few that come to mind right off the bat), but what this verse novel does really well is show the perspective of a girl whose brother has nonverbal autism and has become dangerous when he gets out of control now that he's a teenager and strong. It's a tricky thing to avoid stigmatization and stereotyping when a disorder is portrayed in a more negative light, but I think this book captured that edge of loving a sibling/being overwhelmed by a sibling with disabilities beautifully.

... morehis book was written very well too. To be completely honest, most books bore me, but this one only made me want to read it more and more as I turned every page. The author Stasia Ward Kehoe represents her talent as an author beautifully in this book; uses lots of metaphors that you would normally never hear. She also takes Daisy's life and makes it out of the ordinary; makes her deal with things a normal teenager wouldn't. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends. less
