review 1: Raider and I found this book a little basic--but gender transitions is nothing new for us. It has a strong message of acceptance, which of course I support, but I wondered if it would be hard for parents who are really struggling with a child's gender expression to hear. Some of my favorite parts were the stories by families; I think I'm hungry to hear about other people's experience. A good resource for families new to the issue, I think, or for friends and loved ones who don't know much about it. I appreciated the timeline information about how kids tend to process gender at different ages.
review 2: 2nd good book I read on trans... This is from a different perspective than the 1st I read. The focus on trans children is especially important to me, as that is
... more the original purpose of my reading into this subject. However, the added information about steps in the development of a trans person was helpful. It is filled with hope for the future, of further understanding and compassion from the American culture towards trans people... I recommend this book to everyone, as it will help you become more open-minded in regards to trans people and help with basic understanding. Please read it! less
