review 1: The Great Work of Your Life came along at a good time for me. As I reboot, and restart my writing career, I am feeling (finally) that I am on the right path...living my Dharma.Cope does a nice job of bringing forth the basic lessons of the Bhagavad Gita by equating Krishna's teachings to Arjuna to the lives of many familiar historical figures (as well as 'ordinary' people Cope knows.)I enjoyed learning more about artists, authors and activists like Keets, Thoreau, Whitman, Corot, and Susan B. Anthony. I could see familiar starts and stops, temptations and wrong turns, passion and fear, in these other lives. I have finished the book yet, but can already highly recommend it...even if you're not into Hindu teachings! The writing is a breeze to surf on, and the teaching is tim... moreeless.
review 2: Really, really enjoyed reading this book. It is EXACTLY my cup of tea! Using as background, the Bhagavad Gita, Cope explores the lives of great men and women and their call to live their dharma. From Henry David Thoreau and Walt Whitman to Beethoven and Keats to Susan B. Anthony and Harriet Tubman, the author takes us on a tour of great lives through history to demonstrate different aspects of a life committed to a greater cause. Incredibly interesting and inspiring! less

An interesting book on dharma in the modern world, and how to put it to use in "normal" life.

I'm not usually a fan of self-help type books, but this one was compelling.
