review 1: I'm a big fan of Steve Almond, and I thought his idea of the "drug dealer model" of publishing (selling chapbooks for cash in person) was ingenius. The writing is great, as usual, especially the flash fiction, but the short-short craft-essay form did not work for me; his short stories and essays are much better. However, I'm looking forward to trying out some of his other chapbooks and any new books he comes out with.
review 2: Steve Almond only sells this book at readings. It's a collection of 30 vignettes, which are a little hit-or-miss but have some truly shining moments, and a 30-part essay on writing which it would behoove every author to read.
