Socks on tiny circular needles.

Hello everyone,

So I had started working on a pair of socks back in October 2017, but then christmas time had hit and you know how it goes.  Just ends up too busy with visiting and last minute gifts or cooking etc.  So it ended up hibernating in the bottom of my project bag for awhile.

Well I pulled it out so that I could have a break from the shawl I’m knitting, and finished up the gusset shaping so it is just in the home stretches.  I am quite excited to have a finished sock to put on my foot that I made! However, when I started to knit the sock I didn’t think of how tiny the yarn is and just how long it would take to finish the sock ha!

The circular needles I am using for this are Addi Premium 30 cm (12 inch) 2.25mm needles.  They advertise that it has 7 advantages.  1. Perfect transition from the tip to the cord/the PVC-tube.  2. Very smooth, polished metal tips. 3. Extra light tips. 4. Thickness and length in black on the cord/the PVC tube.  5. Highly flexible cord.  6. The tips are not bent, the needles do not twist out of the hand.  7. Easy to use 40/50 cm needles with extra short tips.

In response to these 7 tips I will say that the cord is very nice, fairly flexible and the transition from the tips to the cord is extremely smooth.  The metals tips are nicely polished and do feel fairly light in my hands.  I would definitely recommend the Addi 12 inch needles to my friends.

For this particular pattern I had to cast on loosely in order to join in the round but it did even out fairly soon after I started the ribbing. Then it is just finish ribbing, work thru the tube to the heel and onwards.  It has been enjoyable taking out my socks and working on them when I find time or between other projects.  I am looking forward to finishing the first sock and casting on the second pair.

Have you tried knitting socks with tiny circulars? I’ve also heard these are good for kids clothing and for sleeves!

knit you later,

Stephanie
