review 1: X-isles is a story of a boy named Baz in a post apocalyptic world. A giant flood has come over the world and food is the most valuable of things. people will give there children to complete strangers in order to feed them. Thats exactly what happens to baz, his father trying his hardest to make ends meet gives baz over to some divers to take him to an island to work for food. But all is not what it seems when baz arrives, abusive elders and a strange preacher torture the kids. although they get fed and have bug infested mattresses its almost better than the main land. the boys live on a hill top where a school is located, the preacher settled the place and the divers are his sons. the boys simple work a quarry next to a cliff where the sea has taken some of the hill. the o... morether group of boys clean all the cans of food the divers bring up. at the end of the day they have to fight for a few cans but things get messy when someone starts stealing. the x-isles is a great book for young adults and i recommend it to everyone. i cant say much else with out spoilers and i give the book 4 stars.
review 2: Dystopian! This book has everything to keep the reader reading...great characters, suspense, effective foreshadowing, great plot. Augarde masterfully crafted this novel about a post-apocalyptic world destroyed by floods and earthquakes. Every struggling parent hopes that his son will be chosen to go to X-Isle where he will be fed and clothed. The boys who get selected by Preacher John soon find that the reality of X-Isle is much harsher and more dangerous. less
