review 1: Generally fun travel book, although the fact that one of the guys decides to cheat right off the bat kinda annoyed me. It made me feel like they had falsely advertised the theme of the book. Still, they are both about my age (late 30's) and are occasionally either poignant or funny. Plus they go to a good mix of unusual and "regular" spots. Would actually give 3.5 stars if that were an option.
review 2: This book is the result of a bet between two immature buddies in their 20's who agree to race around the world (in opposite directions) without using planes, helicopters or hot air balloons. The result is an often hilarious and sometimes revealing/interesting travel commentary. I think I particularly liked it because I could see a younger version of myself... more trying the same thing. Now, older and wiser, I know what a waste travelling at speed (and alone) can be. It's a quick and fun read. less
