review 1: Ted’s story is realistic but depressing and the artwork in this graphic novel, though reflective of the melancholy tone, is not very exciting. Genius does not have a lot of teen appeal since the focus of the book is a father and husband coming to terms with his own limitations and coping with life’s disappointments. ... moree his world. My issue, and it's a big one, is that we don't find out what happens to one particular major character. The disappointment at finding that that subplot was left to dangle, which was plainly an authorial decision (geez, Steven, not even a hint?) interfered with my otherwise unalloyed positive response to this thoughtful, thought provoking story. less
