review 1: *thanks to NetGalley for this book"the chosen one" is shocked to learn there are more "chosen ones" out there, all specialising in a different skill, after meeting a fellow "chosen" while out hunting a demon. unbeknownst to them, their mentors formed an elaborate set-up in which they aim to have the two young chosen ones join forces & work together to rid the earth of unearthly beings.the end result is something neither the mentors nor the students were expecting from a routine demon banishing.This was a little odd, quite funny, & also quite fitting of how teens who are outside the stereotypical norm try to fit in.
review 2: I've given this a five on pure enjoyment factor alone. Its probably more of a 4 star story but I giggled and laughed out loud to myself a... morell the way through. The humour reminded me of Joss Wedon in Buffy mode! I loved the twist, and the budding romance between these two ' chosen ones ' was sweet and at times adorable. I can't see anybody not being charmed and amused by these two apprentice demon hunters. One of them is a bit of a wanna be gangsta whilst the other is all 'lord of the rings' and the culture clashes are really funny. There's a bit of sex and effin and Jeffin but its definitely aimed at YA, not that that matters. The demon's a hoot! Good fun, I liked it. less
