The Icemark Chronicles
review 1: The final book in the Icemark series, entitled The Last Battle of the Icemark, follows all the characters of the first two books but is told mainly through Thirrin and Charlemagne. The Polypontian Empire is back with a great vengeance, but the greatest danger lies within the castle walls. The powerful witch that started her revengeful plans in Blade of Fire is now at the peak of her strength, and she will sacrifice everything to ruin the lives of the Royal Family. Compared to the first two books in the series, The Last Battle of the Icemark was disappointing. Although it was still a great read and well-written, the plot from the first two books was much more interesting and original. However, the twist at the end is entirely unexpected, and to me extremely sad, but it adds... more a realistic touch to the series. One plus is the characters are very well-developed by this point, which makes the reader much more devoted to the story. I admit this is my least favorite of the three, but the first two are definitely incomplete without this last installment.Content issues: war and violence, but nothing explicit.
review 2: The final book was a bit of a disappointment to me partially because it was the end of a world I'd loved soo much and partly because I felt it didn't do the characters as much justice as I would've liked. Saying this I managed to cry epically, as I did throughout the series, but most importantly I gave a triumphant whoop at the end speaking volumes; Hill successfully left me feeling sated and alive whilst a little morose. Definitely a book for those who are romantic and love the world of fantasy, drama and a good battle against evil. less

This was the only book that's ever made me cry, and for that, it was absolutely incredible.
