review 1: I was given a free copy of this book a couple of months ago, and unfortunately I didn't have the chance to read it until now and that's a great disappointment because this was such a great book! I loved the idea of this novel as a way of exploring this notion of "love" and what exactly it means to us. Love isn't static, it's something that changes, that's been changing and that will continue changing within the course of our future. What's the issue with love is that there's a different definition of love for every person in the planet. Everyone expects something different out of a relationship, therefore compromise is a big issue with a lot of these relationships we get ourselves into. Honestly, I can say that this book captivated me with the way it explored this idea of ... morelove, and how we can all have different definitions of love but in the end, what matters the most is that we've invested time into a person enough to have this feeling for them.Definitely read this book if you want to be inspired to love, be aware of how you love and what it is to love. This book is great!
review 2: I loved this book. Very illuminating on the subject of marriage. What really surprised me, however, is that by the end of the book, she is applying her insights about "attachment," to topics as diverse as our love affair with technology and leadership--not to mention parenting. It is a bit of a read, and if you want something lite, I might suggest her earlier book, "Hold Me Tight." Her work is based on the research of John Bowlby, who first described the attachment phenomenon some 70 years ago. Her narrative is full of examples from her private practice and research being carried on all over the world (very intensely, I might add). If you want a bit of background before you begin, check out Bowlby on the internet. On the other hand, Johnson does orientate the reader at the start, too. Can't recommend this more highly. less

I absolutely love this book. The best book written on the psychology of love so far.

I liked it, but it was a little more technical than I was really looking for.
