review 1: I really loved this story. I love animals, but I wouldn't characterize myself as a dog person. When it comes to dogs, it's more that I'm fascinated by the way dogs interact with humans and I thought this story captured the dog's perspective so well. The m/m romance aspect was pretty tame, but it didn't matter, the way the relationship developed between Hey Girl (the dog) and her two humans was plenty for me. :)
review 2: Very Cute and Very Clever.I wasn't sure what to expect with the whole story told from a dogs pov but Devon does a marvelous job of it. Hey Girl (Never Flora) makes a funny, grumpy narrator, I loved her view of her new humans and the begruding way she allows them to bribe and home her. And theres puppies!The human romance is lovely and I'm i... morempressed how much is conveyed by our unusual narrator. The whole thing is sweeter than sugar, I'm even adding a new shelf to reflect that. less
