review 1: This book was well researched and For the most part I liked the characters. At times I found the triangle between Aislynn, Johnny, and Tim unbelievable. It was incredibly hard for me to believe that these men wouldn't have given her a dose of reality or a stern talking to before she got to out of hand. The way Tim and Johnny interact was unbelievable to me as well. I did enjoy the idea of the character of Aislynn and her drive to have something of her own which made the ending shocking and disappointing on some levels. Overall, a good read while I was trying to rest with a cold...
review 2: this book seemed very real . reading it felt like you were actually learning what it would be like to live in these times. it didn't feel like the author would write someth
... moreing just because it was pretty and would make you feel good. she wrote the hard facts about the time period. life was not fair , people died , and you did what you could to survive an happy endings are for those with their heads in the clouds. I very much enjoyed this book ( although I am usually a head in the clouds reader) this was just refreshing and got to the history buff in me . less
