review 1: I really enjoyed this book, which felt much more real and thought-provoking than the run-of-the-mill indie romance. (Probably because it's more chick lit than romance.) My favorite part was the very real struggle to fit into a southern small town --- it really can take generations. And while I wasn't sure that it would be so impossible to use a cheap mixer as a backup when making 500 cupcakes (if she'd spent all of the time mixing that she'd spent worrying about it, I think she could have made the deadline with my mixer), I did enjoy the heroine's cupcake business and her horse. Not so sure about the love interest and the clean wrapup at the end, but since that was a relatively minor part of the book, I'll give it a pass.
review 2: Wow did this book have a
... morelot of back to back drama! Some of it was to the point where I was in "you've got to be kidding me" mode. In spite of this, it was a nice story about perseverance and family with some romance. I really liked that the main character, Libby, was 46 and not the typical contemporary romance heroine, but at no point in the book was her age or status counterproductive to her story. The rest of the characters are great and rather interesting. The only thing is that the book put me off from even thinking of moving to a teeny-tiny town. Those people are psychos. :D less

Well written, good suspense, nice romance, just not to my personal tastes.

Enjoyable characters. Romance with a mystery thrown in: a nice combo.
