Liz Talbot Mystery
review 1: Great follow up to Lowcountry Boil. Liz Talbot is a private investigator and has returned home to Stella Maris, a small island off the coast of SC. Her newest client is a dead ringer for Marilyn Monroe. Due all the coincidences between Marilyn's life and her life mean she is destined to the same fate? Follow Liz and her partner Nate as they put their lives on the line trying to solve the mystery.
review 2: Set on the fictional island of Stellar Maris, South Carolina, the author offers us glimpses of Mount Pleasant, the Isle of Palms, and Charleston. Boyer reminded me how wonderful it is to live at the beach, to enjoy the sand and the water every day without ever taking it for granted. Lowcountry Bombshell was my first experience with a cozy mystery. I found
... more it a light-hearted enjoyable read with romance, action, and everything about South Carolina I love. A little gory but not too gruesome, I found the action appropriate. I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. Liz Davis and her longtime partner, Nate, have recently become romantically involved. This new bond not only adds to the energy of their adventures but it creates an urgent need to protect one another when they find themselves in danger. I found their relationship endearing. I hope to see more of them in Boyer's next editions to the series, Lowcountry Boneyard and Lowcountry Bordello, scheduled for release in May and October of 2014, respectively. True to the Southern style of writing, Boyer presents her readers with many colorful characters. Liz Davis--our protagonist who has a feisty attitude, a huge appetite, and a fear of germs. Calista McQueen--Liz's client--a multi-million dollar lottery winner who is the spitting image of Marilyn Monroe. Colleen--Liz's best friend/guardian angel--although she's been dead for fourteen years she spends her days protecting Liz from flying bullets. Grace--the psychic godmother. Blake--her protective brother. At times, I felt lost trying to keep up with all these interesting characters. While Boyer does a fair job of providing her reader with the missing pieces, I found myself wishing I'd read her first novel, Lowcountry Boil, beforehand. less
