review 1: This history & travel book covers the Tudor period from Henry VII through Elizabeth I, focusing on Henry VIII & Elizabeth, but also sites allied to Anne Boleyn, Walter Raleigh, Edward I & Lady Jane Grey, and many others. She covers 50 sites that still have something to see, so she must leave out important buildings that are no longer standing. If I ever go back to England, I want to have this with me to give interesting details I might miss & odd little bits to look for. Highly recommended. for armchair travellers as well. The focus is on the buildings so it's not chronological.I'm not sure where the subtitle above came from as it's not on this book.
review 2: This is the perfect companion for Tudor history-lovers when they visit England! Suzannah Lipscomb tell
... mores the stories of characters, such as Henry VIII and his spoiled childhood and Lady Jane Grey, the tragic 'Nine Day Queen'. She also provides tours of historic buildings, such as Westminster Abbey and Richmond Palace, so that the reader can see the details of the Tudor history in the architecture. I also want to visit the National Portrait Gallery again with this book.Lipscomb also studies many buildings that I haven't visited, including Charterhouse in London and Hever Castle, the haunt of the alluring Anne Boleyn. I received this book free from Net Galley, but I'll certainly buy it, so that I can tour these buildings with my beloved Tudors!336 pages$17.96 at Amazon less

Witty and informative. Only the lack of photographs and maps keeps this book from rating five stars.

Didn't read it all but picking places I've read or been to was fun.
