review 1: A young girl with cerebral palsy goes to Paris when her famous artist mother wins an international award. Aiko has a lot going on in her life besides being her mother's muse. She is the secret author of an underground manga series, crushes on an unattainable perfect boy, wonders about the father she's never met and her mother won't discuss in addition to her condition which makes her clumsy and self-conscious. Paris opens her to many experiences and the road to self-acceptance. Would be a good choice for reluctant readers or high-low. The story was good but I wanted more depth from Aiko; I felt this would have been way more interesting as a graphic novel actually.

... morether reading at the time until I finished. This is a YA book, but it's a very good one. The author is a close friend of mine, but I can say, objectively, that this is an excellent piece of work. Suzanne Kamata has strong literary sensibilities and instincts. She weaves smart writing with a very well-told and well-crafted story. The book is also open ended and could enjoy a second volume. Bravo!! less

Interesting book. I read it one shot. But the romance was a little forced.
