review 1: Burn, by Suzanne Phillips is a great book for teens and young adults. Burn is about a 14 year old buy who just started high school, but not on a good note. He is constantly bullied by Patterson and his friends for no reason. Cameron finds ways to deal with this frustration, but one event makes him go over the top. The events proceeding a sexual assault on Cameron are all a matter of getting caught. I do recommend this book to teens starting high school and young adults, because it shows the worst of how high school can be and teaches readers what not to do when bullied. If you like Burn, then you should look Brutal, by Michael Harman because it also relates to high school and how their can be struggles and how to deal with them. I gave this book 4-5 stars because overa... morell I really enjoyed it. I think it could have been stretched out more because it seemed really short.
review 2: I really struggled with how to rate this novel. Part of me didn't like Cameron. Part of me understood him too well. Part of my hurt for the mother, because I have a tween daughter and I am terrified I'll make mistakes in my parenting. We don't have the abuse situation but it still terrifies me as a parent. So the basic overall viewpoint: It made me hurt, it made me think, and those are hallmarks of a good read for me. less

Good story-probably too mature for middle school students that I teach-more for high school.
