The Southern Humanities Review is hosting their Spring Session readings on February 25 in the Caroline Marshall Draughon Lecture Room in the RBD Library on the campus of Auburn University. Daytime workshops will be led by Hannah Pittard and Tarfia Faizullah, who will also give a reading at 7:00 PM in Haley Center, Room 3194. Admission is free and open to the public.
Hannah Pittard will be leading a Fiction workshop at the Spring Sessions from 2:00 ’til 4:00 PM. Pittard has received awards and honors for her work from The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Entertainment Weekly. Her most recent published novel is Listen To Me, and her earlier books are REUNION and The Fates Will Find Their Way. In 2018, her fourth novel, ATLANTA, 1962, will be published.
Tarfia Faizullah will be leading a poetry workshop from 10:00 AM ’til 12:00 noon. Faizullah is an Bangladeshi American poet who will be sharing poems from her first book, Seam, which won the Crab Orchard Series in Poetry First Book Award, and from her new book, Registers of Illuminated Villages, which is coming out in 2018. Her poems appear in Poetry Magazine, Poetry Daily, Oxford American, Ploughshares, jubilat, Kenyon Review, New England Review, and elsewhere. Poems have also been anthologized in Best New Poets 2013 (Meridian), The Book of Scented Things (Rose O’Neill Literary House Press), Please Excuse this Poem: 100 Poems for the Next Generation (Viking/Penguin), and Hard Lines: Rough South Poetry (University of Southern Carolina Press).
