review 1: I think this WAW possibility could be a good classroom resource to teach poetry formats, but it doesn't work on the WAW list. The poems are each in a different format and tell the story of a boy who is looking forward to going fishing with dad until his sister comes along. Then when she catches the most fish, he is crushed until he catches the biggest and she praises him. Instructions on techniques and format are in the back. This is a no vote for me.
review 2: A fantastic novel written in a huge variety of poetic forms. Not only is the actual story charming with a great message about the importance of family, but at the end, the author introduces the basic elements of poetry and then goes into detail about each of the poetic forms used. I would LOVE to use t... morehis book to introduce poetry to children and challenge them to create using the different types of poems and different elements of poetry. Excellent read! less
