review 1: I was a given a free copy on exchange for an honest review:Kisses Don't Tell is a story with a lot of different players who are connected in some way. You have some serious triangles here: Kyla and Keith (who has a "wifey" Nadine. Definition of wifey-a woman that has the status of a wife without the commitment of marriage.), Kyla and Dean (has a wife Fiona) and Kyla with Dean's brother Chris. Then you also have Kyla's sister with Michael and now also Michael with LeAnn towards the end of the book. There is a lot of things going on from the beginning of the story, which is told from all different character perspectives. At first, I wasn't too sure how that would play out, but Ms. Newhouse did a great job in the telling of each perspective without necessarily making the... more story repetitive. As the story goes on, the storyline becomes a bit convoluted between Kyla and her men. I didn't understand the Chris and Kyla relationship and how it came to be. It seemed they talked for one night and kissed then Chris knew was in love with his bother's girlfriend, but they didn't have any significant conversation nor interaction beforehand? Ten years passes and his feelings and attraction is just as strong as they were when they first kissed? I just didn't and still don't understand that and she feels like she loves him too? Situation.......awkward. Then the thing with Fiona and Kayla and Dean was bizarre. Dean's wife, Fiona knew Kayla from the sorority that they both pledged and after describing Dean and talking about him, Fiona left their college to attend the same college as Dean to get him to notice her? That is Fatal Attraction type stuff right there. I liked the Keith/Dean/Kyla triangle, but I don't think the brother Chris needed to be added to the relational disaster that was Kyla's love life. Kyla's sister, Brittany and Michael had a good thing going on until she started displaying the signs of pregnancy, then she lost her damn mind. She started pushing Michael away since she thought that he would eventually leave like her previous boyfriends when the going got tough. I'll give her a pass though and chalk it up to pregnancy hormones because she finally came to her senses at the end of this book. :)Ms. Newhouse can spin a tale, but I think she wove a little bit too much into this one. Had she stuck to the Kyla/Dean/Keith triangle and Brittney/Leann/Michael triangle I would have liked it better. Maybe I'm just biased to the not taking the brother's girlfriend while he was still alive issue that I have a problem with. Strangers, okay. Friends, maybe. Brothers, unjustifiable. At least in this story, in my opinion. I've asked myself, Do I want to read the second part to this series? Answer, I don't know because I don't like the brother Chris being a love interest. If he wasn't in the story would I? Yes, I would.
review 2: In Kisses Don't Lie.....we learn of young love and the begining of new love.....There were a few unexpected twists and characters kept my interest until the end..... I really enjoyed this story and hopefully things will work out for Kayla, Brittany, Micheal, Dean and the rest of the gang in the upcoming sequel.....Didn't care AT ALL for the ending wish the author would have done something a little different eventhough I now know she was setting the stage for the next one...... less
