review 1: Princess in Training by Sauer is a delightfully fun read. Princess Viola is awkward when it comes to typical princess activities such as the royal wave, or waltz but when it comes to skateboarding or karate chopping she is your girl! One day Princess Viola is invited to "Camp Princess". In the letter it states that "Camp Princess will teach you how to wave, walk and waltz just like royalty should." Viola quickly enrolls but "Camp Princess” is not quite ready for the interesting spin Viola puts on all the lessons. Viola karate chops, dives and skateboards to add a little pizazz to the ordinary princess lessons, much to her teachers chagrin. In the end Viola saves the day in "modern princess" style by giving an uninvited dragon a run for his money at the Royal Bash. ... more The pictures in the book are colorful and perfectly descriptive. They also show action as well as emotion which adds to the story. I give this book a thumbs up and will look for others written by the same author.
review 2: My 5-year-old and I went to Barnes and Noble to buy Tammi Sauer's OH, NUTS. Nuts becuase they didn't have it yet. Instead, though, they had PRINCESS IN TRAINING. To my surprise, my son went for it despite the sparkle cover and the abundance of pink. The skateboard, the karate chopping and the dragon did the trick for my Mr. Toughie, so yay! Girls AND boys will love to 'Zip! Zup! Zoom!' with the spunky, lovable Princess Viola. less
