review 1: Conclusion books always make me kind of sad. Throughout the years that it took me to read the Nicki Styx books i have grown incredibly close to Nicki and Joe. They went through some really tough times. But for me seeing their love endure all of the ghosts and demons really made the series. There is nothing better than a strong and competent heroine to light up the pages of a romantic/ urban fantasy novel. Nicki's strong personality is probably one of the main things that causes her to get into so much trouble and I love it! If you enjoy ghosts and happily ever afters in your books the Nicki Styx series is one for you. In Silent night Nicki and Joe's relationship is put to the test, and at times I was afraid things wouldn't work out. Terri Garey has such an incredible way o... moref writing, she creates a spooky, dark, romantic and comedic story with such ease. I only hope that her other books are as good as this series was!
review 2: SILENT NIGHT, HAUNTED NIGHT was pretty heart stopping at moments. I really felt the pain and frustration that went with this plot. This time, Nicki has angered the Dark side with her constant interference and her weakness she’s causing in the Devil. Now she is up against a Selene, aka Lilith (who got Sammy and herself kicked out of heaven) who wants her man’s attention by any means necessary. Selene disguises her way into Joe’s life. Despite her warnings, it only drives her and Joe farther apart as Selene makes herself comfortable in Joe’s daily life and dreams. Meanwhile, Nicki’s dealing with a mother who committed suicide and her teenage son who Darkness has set its sights on. In order to help the mother and son, Nicki has to risk her relationship with Joe. Joe gets caught up tight in Selene’s plan and begins questioning Nicki, even breaking up with her, when he not only believes her about Selene but catches her in Sammy’s car. Now he questions everything she once told him. Sammy on the other hand, saves Nicki’s life. From reading THE DEVIL’S BARGAIN series by Terri Garey first, I really have sympathy for Sammy and now want to go back and catch some of the meanings that didn’t make sense before. Sammy is that perfect bad boy that you really shouldn’t like. Nicki also struggles to categorize her feelings. Adding to his Eve story, Sammy explains the love/hate relationship between him and Selene and is able to draw Selene away from Nicki using his charm to heat things up between them once again. Who knows, maybe he really does like Selene in some way. Finally, Joe is at her door, miserable without her and willing to talk things out. Both must face what they did in dreams with Selene and Sammy, but luckily these two are meant for each other. Opening presents, Nicki gets a surprise of her life when Joe gets down on one knee. With a hint from a friendly spirit, Nicki is looking forward to a future together with their little girl. less
