review 1: This was really funny and so typical of young boys! I loved the way they made decisions but I would have always lost because they had far more guts than I ever would have! No way could I have done the dares they come up with! Although I basically knew way ahead how it was gonna play out I was happy with the ending and the surprise the boys got was neat and I can't wait to see in a later book how they cope with that as well.
review 2: This book is thoroughly inappropriate . . . and I loved it! As a "finicky homeschool mom," I'm pretty discerning about what I allow my kids to read. This book is loaded with testosterone, but it's my 11yo daughter that I will allow to read it. The book is chock-full of scatological humor, something that will appeal to some kids, an... mored utterly gross out others (like my very proper 14yo son!).It's the backstory that makes this book worth its weight in....uh...gold. Without giving too much away, it's about a boy and his arch-nemesis, who become related through the marriage of one's mom to the other's dad. It's all about how they navigate the rocky road of a newly blended family, dealing with school, and the meshing (or not!) of very different personalities.The book is very detailed in the multiple gross-outs the boys engage in, but I have to tell you, I haven't laughed as hard in ages! I'm so happy to know there is a Book 2 (Zoo'd) and Book 3 (Field Trip) is in the works. I discovered the book through Amazon, as a freebie, and was delighted to find Zoo'd free, also. I'm off to read it now, and hope it's as good, if not better, than The Underwear Dare!The book would be great for reluctant readers, but also for kids who love bodily humor and gross stuff! less
