The story of Blake is a complex one; she has a secret that only two people know.Dean being her best friend is one of those two people. Dean tries to shield Blake from anything and anyone who can hurt her. Dean tries to reach out to Blake to reconcile her past and break through the walls she has hidden behind for so long. Landon, Dean’s best friend, falls hard and fast for Blake. Blake’s fears and Dean’s warnings keep him at bay. As she tries to heed the advice of Dean, little by little a friendship with Landon forms. Landon appreciates the friendship but wants more.Enter Derrick, the sexy CEO who takes one look at Blake and feels a connectio... moren. Derrick is determined to get to know Blake and stops at nothing to reach this goal. Blake is surprised when she begins to develop feelings for both Landon and Derrick. both who try to fill a void in Blake, and much to her surprise Blake starts to let go of the barriers she has built to protect herself.In a unique writing twist each character tells his/her side of the story. Using this creative method the authors give the reader insight to the characters feeling and emotions. The characters have strong definition and the descriptions used to define the places within the book are creative. If you enjoy a love story, or as I would say a love triangle, a bit of suspense, and a heartfelt look at friendship, you will enjoy this book.Note: If you want to find out what happens next Luck and Faith will be published in August, 2013
review 2: From the jump our heroine, Blake’s story lured me in. She’s a young woman who has lived a life guarding her heart from a dark secret in her past that only her two closest friends know about. When her best friend, Dean, finally convinces her it’s time to start tearing down the walls she has so carefully built, she finds that love isn’t always as easy as just letting go. Unbeknownst to two men, they are each vying for Blake’s affection. Derrick and Landon are both strong, successful men that draw out different sides to Blake she never knew existed. As she struggles with her conflicting feelings for both men she must both come to terms with her past and decide where her heart truly lies. This book has a cliffhanger but don’t let that stop you from picking it up because it’s a pretty shocking twist of events that will lead you into the next book. I enjoyed all these characters as well as their individual stories and how those stories surprisingly intertwined. less
