review 1: After all this time I am still a proud fan of all things vampire, especially vampires. I know, I know there's always someone declaring the paranormal creatures 'dead' (well, they are, duh, I meant 'popular' or 'trending') or saying the genre isn't selling anymore. Not selling? I beg to differ and as proof I use today's book as solid evidence that the sexy blood sucking creatures of the night aren't going anywhere--well, except to my ereader or into a stack of books to read on my night stand. I thoroughly enjoyed Don't Blackmail the Vampire by Tiffany Allee. Rachel is intelligent, fiercely loyal to her sister, and can't help feeling attracted to the vampire Charles. Even when she witnesses him doing what all vamps are famous for, she doesn't run away, she thinks up a plan. ... moreCharles is sexy (of course), a good guy, and feels something for this woman he can't describe just yet. Their scenes are playful, tense with increasing sexual chemistry, and their escapades kept me rooting for them. Whether in a restaurant or skiing, it's obvious these two are great together. Can Charles help Rachel with her plan and then what happens to these two?I'm not telling. No spoilers here. I will say this: for lightweight, fun, and utterly charming tales featuring vampires readers can love and heroines to adore, I always go to veteran authors like Katie MacAlister, H.P. Mallory and others. I can now add Tiffany Allee to that list. Now excuse me while I go search for Don't Bite the Bridesmaid, the first book in A Sons of Kane series. Oh, I totally recommend Don't Blackmail the Vampire to all paranormal fans. Thanks to Entangled Publishing for keeping the fans happy with so many great titles to choose from! And to the naysayers who declare this genre "dead" all I will say is I wonder how many people are looking forward to and have already pre-ordered Anne Rice's upcoming Prince Lestat novel? This vampire fan has. Ha!
review 2: Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Chelle:I thought this was a fantastic read! I finished it in one long sitting, and was very happy I had sat down with it. Witty, fast paced, intriguing, and with just enough romance... it was utterly and thoroughly enjoyable. Don't Blackmail the Vampire is the 2nd book of the SONS OF KANE series, but can be read just fine on its own. Our heroine, Rachel, is desperate to rescue her sister from marrying her good for nothing fiancé. When a ski trip with the not-so-happy couple, a friend of theirs, and the fiancé's soon-to-be boss gives opportunity for Rachel to work her magic and break up Brent and her sister, she jumps at the chance. In the most unusual way. She blackmails the 'soon-to-be boss' into helping her break the two of them up. The only problem: she can't keep her own heart safe from this captivating and thrilling man er... vampire.Don't Blackmail the Vampire had a fast paced and captivating plot with just enough complexity to keep just about any reader happy. It was very well written, and had characters that you couldn't help but love. I found myself falling deeper and deeper into the story and before I knew it, was turning the last page. I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series.Highly recommended. less
