review 1: Samantha is a natural runner with a crazy mother. Mom cheats on all men except her newest fiancée James Kade. Samantha has fallen in love with her soon to be oldest stepbrother, Mason. Her mom threatens to have Mason charged with Statutory rape. She wants Sam to quit seeing Mason. James' other son, Logan is also still a minor like Sam but all three teens move out of the Kade home to Mason's best friend Nate's home. Sam resolves her relationship with the man who raised her, David, the private school football coach. To stay out of her mom's path she gets a job as a waitress at a family owned business where Heather befriends her. She decides to switch schools from David's private school Fallen Crest academy to public Fallen Crest where the track and CC coach plans to ... moreget her a college scholarship. Logan, Mason and Heather all go to the public school. At end Sam tells her mom she will move back in but she cannot parent Sam or Kade boys. Sam's mom, Analise, sabotaged her relationships including Garett her biological father. Analise had become pregnant with twins during an affair while married to David. She self aborted the babies and abused Sam as a child.
review 2: I tossed up between 3 and 4 stars for this book and settled on 3. Sam used to be a strong chick that didn't let anything bother her... then in this book, she became something different. Panic attacks, crying, running... Yeah, she was dealing with some deeply embedded issues from her past, but it just wasn't dealt with well. Also, Becky, wtf? That part just came from nowhere. She was annoying anyway but in this book I felt like her character was pointless. She did not add anything to the story. That being said, I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I especially can't wait to see what happens with Kate, Heather and the other girls. Catfight imminent! less
