review 1: WTF why is this high school drama so addicting? Is it realistic? Probably not, but I guess you can't under-estimate a small town's worship of local football heroes. So anyway, this book is full of effed up relationships: mother/daughter, boyfriend/girlfriend, brothers, frenemies, etc. High school drama at it's finest. Strangely enough this was still fun to read.Lots of unexplained mysteries, but the ending is a tad too ridiculous. Still, must read #2 just to see where it all goes...
review 2: This has SPOILER!!This book was interesting. But not in the way you might think. Fallen Crest High is filled with drama, drama, and more drama. And while drama is fun to read, when you have to much of it things can get confusing. The relationships between all three of Sam's
... moreparent figures were not very well thought out in my opinion. Sam's mother's relationship with James was not that confusing to understand in the beginning. Iran you have a women who did cheat and found the affection she was looking for elsewhere. In ways, this is relatable. You can understand why we is crying in the beginning, she is sad to end her marriage with David but knows it needs to be done because they are not in love. But this side of her contradicts everything she does later. In this opening scene I expected her to have some compassion for her daughter and feel sorry for putting her through this. I think the transition from this caring mother who cries over having to leave her husband and change her daughters life, to a women who has endless amounts baggage and doesn't care how it affects those around her was choppy, and should have have been made so that she changed over time and not over night. The relationship between Helen and Sam's real father Garrett was confusing as well. I didn't understand how they met, the author didn't really go into that. It was more like you were supposed to figure out that somehow they met and didn't care how this would affect everyone. A relationship that confused me as well was Mason and Sam's. Now, don't get me wrong, Sam and Mason are adorable when they want to be, but the way their relationship started was so cliché and I have a hard time believing that high schoolers only think about sex and drugs and nothing else. As a high schooler I can vouch for this. No where in there is school a priority, but the way these kids are brought up, their parents may not expect amazing grades but they certainly don't want their kids blowing it off. Also Mason and Sam did NOT talk. They shared a few 'intense' stares, but that isn't how you let someone knew you like them. Especially since Mason comes across as a closed off character and it would take a lot to make him let you in, why was it Sam? What did she have? I mean I get that he found her desirable, but that does not equal love and I think that is what this book is getting co fused about. It got to the point where I had to ignore all of this so I could enjoy the book.Things I did like were:* Logan Kade's attitude. I didn't like how geniuses girls but he made me laugh sometimes and to be honest I find funny guys more attractive than closed off mysterious guys. Although, I think Sam and Mason were the better choice for a couple.* It's small but I liked that the author made it known to you that Mason did have a girlfriend at one point. I don't like books with guys who have never uttered that word.* I liked that Sam had a hobby. Hobbies in books are great cause they say a lot about that character. While Sam was closed off and didn't let anyone in, she expressed herself through running and it showed that she was athletic. All in all, I didn't hate the book and I would recommend this book to my friends just so we can talk about the stupid parts of it and the cute parts of it. But could I have gone my entire life without reading this?? Answer: Hell yes.But if you enjoy reading books that focus on nothing but drama and the main relationship the this is your book. Sometimes I get in the mood to read books like so I don't judge. I hope this review enlightens you as to what you rare getting into if you choose to read it. less
