review 1: From the author: Many years ago, two children, Salome and River, from completely different worlds forged a connection, a fateful connection, an unbreakable bond that would change their lives forever. Mae and Styx as we get to know them are the most polar opposite than any two book characters I have ever read about. There is a WHOLE lot going on in this book! A religious cult, a biker club, gun running, dirty cops-- it was a ride from beginning to end. Bit of a dark read but an intriguing story none the less.
review 2: I really enjoyed it, but I didn't love it. At first, I struggled with the way the characters spoke. Once I got going I couldn't stop. I had to know what happened. Salome/Mae has lead a horrible and sheltered life for 23 years. When
... moreshe finally escapes, she ends up at the Hades club house and there she finds a connection.River/Styx is the President of the Hades Hangmen. He uses ASL to speak to his men. He's only spoken to three people in his life....his Dad, his best friend and VP Ky and her - wolf eyes. He's a bit of a prick, but hey aren't they all in the beginning! My heart actually hurt for Lois.It takes awhile for the romance to take off but once it does, he goes all Alpha MINE! For Mae, there never was anyone else but Styx. But Mae has a past and it comes looking for her..... less
