review 1: I got this book as a free download and I liked it. This is the first book by Tim Dorsey that I read and I was not sure what to expect since some of the reviews went from love to not impressed at all. It was an entertaining short story, I think I might have been disappointed if I had paid for it, since it was so short, but overall I liked it. I definitely will be checking out some of Tim's regular novels since I liked his writing style.
review 2: Tim Dorsey not only understands the Florida experience, he writes it well. You might think of Tropical Warning as a sampler of Serge Storms mayhem and merriment. Dorsey can not only get the reader to adopt a psychotic killer as a friend, he gets us rooting for Serge. We want him to do his worst, because the scumbags ... morehe encounters just deserve his ire so damn much. If you've never read any of Dorsey's series of Serge Storms adventures, this is a great starting point. You'll get the flavor of the festivities and come away wanting more, I'm sure. less
