review 1: Took me a while to get round to reading this one, cause I just wasn't interested in Oliver. But, it was a fun read. Not as good as the others, but still worth reading and really should be read before the next one (Thomas and Eddie's story). I got awful tired of all the other Scanguard Vampires being asshats to not only Oliver, but Ursula as well. (Seriously felt like taking a star off Zane's story in retribution at one point in the book...) But it is all ironed out and forgiven in the end as only Tina Folsom can pull off. I really liked Ursula. She was a strong person without being a bee-with-an-itch. Didn't think Oliver deserved her at first, but well, read for yourself and find out ; )
review 2: While it's been nice to see the growth in these characters thro... moreughout the series - it seems that the more I read this series - the more human they become. This book was frustrating at times, mostly due to the fact that despite Oliver's recent turning (2months I think), he was held with such low disregard by his colleagues, even though some of his beloved brothers have had what seems like a millennia to "curb their appetite" it almost seemed they expected Oliver to be a miracle adjuster & therefore not given the same reprieve, it saddened me that the 'vampire' Oliver was treated with much less respect & trust than the much loved 'human' Oliver. On the upside, seeing Rose & Quinn as "parents" of 2 teenage boys (mentally) was funny to see, oh and the part where Oliver calls Zane out on his shit? Hillarious!! Is Oliver a shoe in for the next Scanguards bad boy? The connexion between Oliver & Ursulla was good but not spectacular (Mind you; it's hard to top Zane spectacular tho so all is forgiven lol). Overall, great instalment! Can't wait for the next instalment - woohoooo Thomas! less
