review 1: I had trouble reading this book. Avery was so indecisive. She becomes involved with Jake and then when he dumps her picks up with another much nicer person. Then Jake wants her back ( abusive dirtbag anyone) she willingly cheats on her current boyfriend ( she doesn't sleep with him but she does kiss him and sleep in the same apartment with him for several days). I understand one "mistake" but Avery consistently goes back for more and never really takes ownership of her actions. Jake abuses her constantly emotionally and even pins her against a wall and kisses her (against her will) when she tells him she is staying with her current boyfriend. I found it disturbing that so many people found Jake to be sexy or cool. The eating disorder subplot was badly handled. I am in reco... morevery for anorexia. I felt as if the seriousness of eating disorders was never taken seriously. If Avery had an eating disorder as long as it is portrayed in the book then she would likely be portraying physical symptoms of starvation and purging. Not to mention that even a minor ED is very difficult to get over.
review 2: Honestly, this book really hit home for me. I was raised in a Christian home and suffered from an eating disorder. I've had many counselors and struggled a lot through my high school life fighting to be what everyone else saw as perfect. It took me too long to realize that I'm love for who I am. I'm how happily married to a man who loves me no matter what I weigh and I have a beautiful baby girl. This book is one of so few that shine into the darkness of eating disorders and the struggles girls go through to be seen as perfect. I really enjoyed this book :) great read! Thank you for a shining a light into the darkness and sending a great message that no matter who you are or what you look like, you are loved. less
