review 1: Diverse Energies: A short story collection of varied dystopian themes, protagonists and races. Stories that break traditional barriers and concepts yet ground the reader via the "common man" protatgonist. I enjoyed most of the stories, albeit I felt a few not up to snuff either as dystopian or quality sci-fi writing. However those few may appeal to others on another level. I will still be looking forward to more editing selections from Tobias Buckell in the future.
review 2: This is a short story collection who's conceit is that it is not a story of straight western white males set in typical locations. Just having an exotic location or exotic names in a story does not make a good story. And just being in a specific location and therefore needing to be famili
... morearized or confused by such a location does not make a good story. These stories however pretty much had what it takes. A bit darker than I look but otherwise - well-written, interesting, mostly by authors that I was not familiar with. In fact the LeGuin story was the only one by a prominent author and was one of the weakest in the collection (though not bad). Worth reading. less

Great mix of dystopic/sci-fi stories. I especially loved Malinda Lo's story "The Good Girl."

I love the "Dystopian" genre, but this kind of fell flat.
