review 1: I read this through in one evening, couldn't put it down. Pacing was good, though no seat-gripping action until near the end (that's good--too much suspense too early is too much for me). I'm satisfied with the ending, left me wanting to read a sequel that was lightly hinted at, if it exists.I especially loved the helpfulness of the librarian (since I'm married to one) and the private detectives added good bit of intrigue to the story...if I had one complaint I'd almost have liked to hear more from their sides, but that's probably a distraction best left out, even if I'd find it interesting.
review 2: Jared Neaton's law practice is on shaky ground when he is presented with Erin Larson's case against Ashley State Bank. He doesn't really need to take on another ... morecase that could very well drain his finances. Nor does he really want to go back to his hometown of Ashley. He hadn't been back there much since he left for college and there were reasons for that. Not only that but he will be trying this case against his former law firm. But Jared does take the case and he does end up in Ashley and he faces more than just the task of finding evidence to prove Erin's father really did make that deposit. Todd Johnson fills the pages of The Deposit Slip with intrigue, suspense and twists and turns! I could not put it down! A great read for sure; just when I thought I had the story figured out there was another twist! I loved it! Definitely not predictable! I recommend The Deposit Slip to all who like to read mystery and suspense novels. This is also a clean read--no foul language or such--a plus for sure! less
