review 1: I'm not fond of the journal-like style of Trigilio's writing. While other reviews indicate to me that this technique has really captured the interest of some readers, I couldn't buy into it. The pieces are far too simple to feel like conventional poetry, asides from some awkward line breaks & very little connection to the previous line or stanza. It appears that he tries to be witty within the simplicity of his stories, but too often these attempts fall flat.I will commend him on some of his language use, such as the following from 4:"--trees on the north side of the streetwaved their arms --blew themselves into my car--their fingertips swiped snow and gust --nothing butKubrick white in front of me".But such poetic gems are too few & far between in this collection of sente... morences about a normal guy who lives a normal life, who attempts to make the experiences sound more unique or important than they are.
review 2: Read the whole thing just in the expectation that something with sense may come up. Got nothing in the endand i am feeling seriously dejected. if this is poetry what this guy writes.then I am pretty sure that i can write it too. got a free e-book, the title seemed interestingand thought of giving it a shot. Why the hell this guy wrote this book and who the hell reads them!! less
