review 1: This was an intriguing mystery and an enjoyable romance, so I felt like it was two for the price of one. I had several issues with details in the book that keep me from giving it five stars, but I enjoyed the book too much to quibble and cannot do so without adding spoilers anyway. I'll just say that overall it was a really good read that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Hey, and it has a cat--that's very important.
review 2: I am a sucker for a second chances romance story. I buy it, I read it and I eat it up like verbal chocolate. This starts out in the past with a teenage pregnancy and then skips ahead to present times. I feel like I might be describing my own life story so I like that the teen mother ends up doing good, finishing school and becoming
... morea successful judge. I'm not a judge but I did everything else on the list so I got caught up in the story like it was my own.I didn't like that Madelyn Cooper doesn't tell the future father, Rand about the pregnancy. That does bother me. Men get a bad reputation for leaving the child raising to the ladies, but people should still give them a chance to prove themselves as parents, as fathers. There was a real mystery that was complex because of multiple motivations, I was a little scared at times. I don't like horror or scary in my books, but it was well done. I didn't like the one-time-we-made-a-baby polt device, but it was a sideline and not the basis of making the relationship.2 stars and a half less

Predictable. Skimmed through last few chapters just to get it over with.
