review 1: Eh it was good. Not bad at all but it was sort of boring.I don't like Kona at all. He literally goes:assignment to watch over Tempest-->sees her-->falls in love with her for no reason. Also Tempest was kind of a jerk to her boyfriend. I didn't really like her as a character. She seemed to be all after the guy. Sure she was brave, but she didn't seem to be that independent heroine I would have liked her to be.The concept of different undersea creatures other than mer-people was cool because I don't think anyone thinks about anything other than mermaids.I will continue with the trilogy to find out what happens but I really hope it gets more exciting.
review 2: so in general this book had some beautiful ideas and I liked reading it. but Tempest as a main character w
... moreas disappointing. I understand that she was frustrated with everyone withholding information but there is anger and frustration and then there is overly dramatic and whiny. tempest falls into the latter category. she is only interested in herself and nothing else and it becomes a nuisance at some point. I also found it quite ridiculous that the first time she is confronted with this sea witch she suddenly controls her powers and injures her. puff just like that. I enjoyed Kona's character though at times I wished he could just answer one of her questions already so we all get some peace and quiet.the ending was a bit too cutesy cute for me and seriously, she could have bothered to say good bye to her family in a proper way instead of running off. less
