review 1: I had planned to give this 3/5 stars as some stories were better than others, but as I was getting to the end, it got quite boring, so I only managed to read the first couple of pages of each story before my mind wandered off. I think I remember 2 or 3 stories (out of 25!) that i quite enjoyed reading. The rest were quite average, and some I had no idea what was going on in the first couple of pages so I skipped a few stories. I started reading this i thought it would be nice to read a different story a night, instead of carrying on with one book. However, the stories that were good felt underdeveloped and because the stories were so short it felt like i had just jumped into the middle of the action of some of them which left me so confused and want to skip some. The fact ... morethat all the stories were based around similar themes got a bit boring too, like when you are reading a long series and you have lost interest but want to see it through till the end.
review 2: I read this because it was free and vaguely tempting. A hit-vampire. There really isn't much to the story. Female vampire keeping self distracted from long life by being a contract killer. Gets hired by a young man to kill his step-father, because he believes the step-father killed his mother. Female vampire accepts job and investigates this supposed mother killer.Even with that story, even with that background, this story went in the direction I do not particularly care to go into. Sure, Dracula by Bram Stoker oozed eroticism, and Anne Rice's Interview with a Vampire dripped with ennui and lewdness. Still, that isn't really what I look for in stories, vampire related or not. Good enough writing for what it was despite that. less

it's alright - a few really good stories, a few mediocre stories and one or two rather strange ones.

Have not read the entire book - only the Karen Chance/Cassandra Palmer story.
