Secret Sisters Mystery
review 1: Well, clearly it's the most brilliant piece of cozy mystery writing ever published! Of course, the author would say that ...Honestly, I think it's a fun story. Ida Mae Babbitt and her friends get involved in some serious undercover work, infiltrating a nursing home to solve not just one, but two murders. It's very handy that Ida Mae has not one, but two broken bones, making her the perfect candidate for the task. With Arlette sneaking into the doctor's office to steal files and Tansy helping stage a swooning fit as a distraction, there are plenty of laughs in this lighthearted mystery. This sequel to "Secret Sisters" does stand alone, but you might understand the characters' motivations a little bit better if you read the first book before this one.
review 2:... more> Mystery is one of my favorite fictional genre to read, and to be honest a lot of LDS writer's "who done it" skills have been pretty predictable. I also have to say over the last couple of years, they have been honing their "who done it" skills and are getting better and better. However, what a lot do have down is creating great characters that keep you entertained, often laughing out loud at their antics - and Ida Mae and her cohorts are no exception in this second Secret Sisters Mysteries. It was a fun, quick read and the "visuals" Tristi creates with her writing are great. I haven't read the first volume in this series and had no problem reading Book 2 as a stand alone. However, there were enough references to the antics in Book 1, that I will be going back and reading it. Dearly Departed is another book I would recommend to put on the Summer Reading List! less
