review 1: An unbelievably beautiful read - the language, the descriptions and the narrative entranced. Though it is a story with much implied and actual violence it has many love stories within it, which sounds like a contradiction but is finely wrought by the author. The characters, even the minor ones, are interesting and clearly drawn.

Although for some reason I didn't connect to the book as much as I'd hoped, I felt like in the first 70% there wasn't much in the way of plot, then in the last few chapters a lot of information was given and the book ended rather quickly and didn't really come to a fully satisfying end. I did very much enjoy the book and would re-read it in the future. less
